Man kills sibling over water dispute
A 28-year-old man was murdered by his sibling over a water dispute in Perambur Tuesday night.
Police said, Kutty alias Raja (26) who runs a two-wheeler water service center in Perambur had been using the water from the borewell of his elder brother Kesavan (28) a resident of Kumarasamy Street in the same area.
Kesavan's wife Sharanya, who had gone to her mother's house for here pregnancy, returned home on Sunday.
When Sharanya went to fetch water from the borewell in their backyard, her brother-in-law Kutty objected to it and scolded her.
Sharanya promptly informed her husband about the incident. Angered over the issue, Kesavan confronted his brother Kutty, the following day.
In a fit of rage, Kesavan damaged the pump of the borewell. Enraged over his brother's attitude, Kutty along with his friend Seenu alias Seenivasan (32) went to Kesavan's house in an inebriated state on Tuesday evening and picked an argument with him, following which Kutty hacked Kesavan with a sickle. Even as Kesavan was rushed to Stanley hospital, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
It may be noted that Kesavan was married a year ago and had a four-month-old baby.
A case has been registered by Perambur police who are on the look out for Kutty.
Seenivasan was arrested Tuesday night.
