Metal detectors to check medicos at exam halls
Entering a medical college examination hall will be akin to visiting a high security prison with the new technology-busting regulations imposed to prevent TN medicos from cheating in their exams.
TN Dr MGR Medical University has ordered that all students appearing for exams be scanned with metal detectors before entering the hall.
The university has also banned them from wearing full-sleeved clothes, chewing gum and visiting the toilet, while writing the exam.
In a circular to all medical colleges affiliated to the university, vice-chancellor Dr Mayil Vahanan Natarajan recalled how students used cellphones concealed in their underwear and Bluetooth devices stitched into their shirt collars, to get answers from their seniors during the exams.
“To put an end to all malpractices, we have directed colleges to install two cell-phone jammers in each exam hall,” the VC said.
