Milk van runs over 4-yr-old boy

A 4-year-old boy was killed in Chromepet after a milk- laden threewheeler ran over him early Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Tamil Arasan, son of Balamurugan and Muthulakshmi of Virudhachalam in Cuddalore.

Muthulakshmi had arrived from her village on Thursday morning with her two children Tamil Arasan and Vadivukkarasi, 2.

She was supposed to stay at her relative’s house and was looking forward to working in an export company.

Her relative had picked her up and children from Tambaram at around 5.30 am on his bike and was proceeding towards his home when they decided to stop for a cup of tea at the Chromepet bus stand.

“Her relative Rajendran had gone to a nearby tea shop while Muthulakhmi and her children were waiting on the road. At this time a milk-laden threewheeler reached there.

The driver Natarajan had kept the engine running and went to deliver the milk packets at the shop. Before he returned, the vehicle accidentally slipped into the reverse gear mode and started running backwards.

The boy, who was standing behind the vehicle, was hit. He fell down and the vehicle ran over him killing him on the spot,” the police said.

Muthulakshmi, who has a speech problem, was planning to work and educate her children in Chennai.
