M.K.Alagiri gets furious
A couple of days after his brother, in an attempt to mend fences, visited him, DMK south zone organising secretary M.K.Alagiri expressed his displeasure over the appointment of functionaries for the party’s youth wing headed by M.K.Stalin.
In a veiled reference to Stalin’s functioning as the youth wing secretary, the elder brother said a few of his loyalists could not get berths. “I had specifically recommended a few names for posts in the youth wing but they were not accepted. But those who have and have not been selected called on me,” he told mediapersons here on Thursday. However, Alagiri did not elaborate on the issue.
The Madurai city youth wing has got a new face as its organiser. Moovendran recommended by previous organiser Jayaraman and district secretary G.Thalapathy of Stalin camp has been appointed for the key position while the three deputy posts have been given to Alagiri supporters Ramar, Anbunidhi and Jeevan.
According to party sources, Alagiri had recommended Balaji, the brother of district deputy secretary Udhayakumar, for the post of the organiser but Stalin had rejected his recommendation on the grounds of his new policy that family members of those who already hold positions in the party would be kept away.
“Even the son-in-law of executive committee member V.K.Gurusamy, a supporter of Stalin, has been denied a berth. Stalin has only acted fair,” a senior leader said.
A functionary asked whether it was just to complain when his loyalists, whose names he had recommended for block secretaries, had boycotted the interview held by Stalin in Madurai in April.
