MLA blamed for bar attack
The owner of a bar that was ransacked by a gang that later murdered an innocent bystander on the way out, in Velachery Tuesday evening, has blamed the local AIADMK MLA, M.K. Ashok, for the attack.
“It was masterminded by the MLA and his aide,” Murugan, an AIADMK leader himself, told Deccan Chronicle on Thursday. Claiming that he had angered the Velachery MLA by outbidding him for the bar attached to a Tasmac liquor store and taking it on lease, he alleged Mr Ashok had dispatched his men to get even with him. Besides the tussle over the bar, there was no previous enemity between them, he said.
The police has already arrested two men for the murder of the software engineer, Chandrasekhar who happened to be outside the bar when it was attacked. An employee of a firm in the Olympia tech park in Guindy, Chandrashekar had gone to the Tasmac store to make a purchase while the gang was ransacking the bar inside and was hacked to death by one of the gang members on the way
out.
When contacted, Mr Ashok denied he had anything to do with the attack on the bar.
“I came to know about the incident after it took place. I know an AIADMK party man ran the bar, but I am not sure if it was licensed or not. I have nothing to do with the attack,” he said.
It was alleged that before the gang ransacked the bar, a police team had gone there and forced all the employees to leave under the instructions of a local politician.
