Movie Director to fast for tax exemption

Seenu Ramaswamy, the director of the movie Neer Paravai, has approached the city police seeking permission to sit on fast on November 10 in support of his demand that the film, which has a U certificate from the Censor Board, be exempted from entertainment tax.

The movie stars Vishnu, the son of an IG and produced by Udayanidhi Stalin. The director said that he should be allowed to release it for Deepavali. "This is a token protest that I plan to hold in a democratic manner from morning to evening on Saturday," he said in his petition to the police commissioner.
