New guidelines for TN building plans from May

With the number of building violations going unchecked and there is a need for more stringent measures the city corporation is now following a set of new guidelines for building plan regulations from May.

Under the new guidelines the local engineers will be pulled up if the violations go unchecked and the building plan applications will have to be approved in the respective zones.

At the time of city expansion there was a delay in approving building plans and later after the data of all the 15 zones and their respective wards has been integrated and now the plan approvals are cleared after due verifications.

Similarly, the property tax dues had also piled up to several crores of rupees and it is estimated to have crossed over Rs 300 crores within the previous city corporation limit and now the tax system is also under streamlining, confidential sources said.

It may be noted that the city corporation recently formulated a committee to look into property tax details.
