Pay Rs 5L for boy’s eye: HC
Holding that educational institutions collecting fees from students owe a duty to take care of them and the responsibility is on the institution to protect the life and limb of the students while they are in school, Madras HC has directed a school to pay Rs 5 lakh compensation to a class 9 student who lost his left eye vision after another student threw a bamboo stick, left by the teacher in the classroom.
Justice K.K. Sasidharan directed Hindu Higher Secondary School in Ambur, Vellore, to pay the compensation within two months to student S. Srinivasan.
