Police to probe hotel staffer death
More than a decade after P. Rajagopal, the owner of Saravana Bhavan chain of vegetarian restaurants was arrested for murder, his family members are again put under scanner by the Chennai police in connection with a death of an employee in Dubai.
The city police have decided to seriously look into the allegation of foul play in the death of one the restaurant employee in Dubai on October 1 this year.
“We have already arrested an employee for threatening the family of the victim.
The body of the victim will reach Chennai on Wednesday. A post mortem will be conducted here and we can start investigation based on the autopsy report to find out if there was any foul play,” a senior city police officer said here.
The family Thaivamani from Lalagudi on Friday lodged a compliant with the city police alleging foul play in the his death in Dubai.
Indrani, mother of the victim claimed that her son died in suspicious circumstances in Dubai and the hotel management had so far had not bothered to bring the body back.
“The hotel management is threatening us asking us to withdraw complaint lodged at the Vadapalani police station,” Indrani said.
In 2001, Rajagopal, who desperately wanted to marry Jeevajyothi, daughter of one of his employees, had killed her husband Prince Santhakumar, using his gang. Rajagopal was already married twice, but the had decided marry third time based on a advise from an astrologer who had predicted fast growth in his hotel business.
In the year 2009, the hotelier was awarded life term for the crime he had committed. He had gone on appeal in a higher court.
