Power woes to be history soon
There is light at the end of the tunnel for TN industries, literally. Envisaged in darkness following the acute power shortage, corporates are now heaving a sigh of relief with the chief minister’s vision 2023 to generate 20,000 MW of power within a decade.
With the renewed focus on manufacturing sector, the key generator of jobs, there is a positive sentiment across sectors.
About Rs 20,000 crore of investment proposals have been lined up for the next six months. DC hinted at the unveiling of a new ICT and industry policy which the budget duly promises.
It has assured to come out with a new industrial policy paving the way for easy and instant approvals.
Though DC was quick to alert Peugeot’s change of investment plans, the government took quick notice to woo other global majors. It has now come up with sops for emerging sectors such as biotech, clean energy and nanotechnology.
The broad plan to increase infrastructure with private sector participation presents yet another big opportunity for companies.
Broadly, with energy boosters plugged across her industrial development map, TN is sure to fall in line with Ms Jayalalithaa’s dream of being one of the top investment destinations in Asia.
