Private staff vie for state jobs
Several Tamils residing in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and other states came to Tamil Nadu on Saturday to take up the group IV exam conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) to fill 10,718 vacancies.
Private firm employees, looking for a government job, were among the 12 lakh candidates who took the exam.
“I work in a marketing company in Thiruvanathapuram. I have been writing government exams for two years. I hope to land a job time this time,” said Mr R. Kumar (30).
BPO worker Shanthi came to her hometown Chennai from Karnataka to write the exam. “I made extensive preparation for this exam. Questions from Tamil subject and analytical questions were tough. If I get this job, I would be back with my family,” she beamed.
Though the exam required the qualification of class 10 pass, several graduates took the exams. B.Tech (IT) graduate Hari Prasad said, “I would be happy to settle down in a government job.”
TNPSC chairman R. Natraj said, “We made all efforts to conduct this massive exam with perfection.” His team arranged wheelchair for the physically-challenged and assistants for the visually-challenged.
