Samprokshanam for 9th century temple
The samprokshanam for the 9th century Sri Adhimoolar Perumal temple at Vilangattupakkm near Puzhal, which was abandoned about four decades ago and was completely rebuilt recently, was performed amidst chanting of Vedic hymns.
The temple also known as Arulmigu Sri Padmasini Alarmelmangai Sametha Adhikesava Perumal temple had been rebuilt totally at a cost of Rs26 lakh including Rs15.52 lakh provided by the state Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowment (HR & CE) department. The construction which began in 2011 was completed recently. V. Subramanian, a devotee, has been the motivating spirit behind the temple construction and reviving the pooja at the temple.
DC first brought to light the tale of neglect and how the temple guarded by cobras was found and revived by a group led by Mr Subramanian.
There are separate shrines for Sri Adhikesava Perumal with Thayars, Panchamukha Anjaneyar, Bhaktha Anjaneyar, Mahavishnu, RadhaKrishna, Viswaksenar, Namalvar, Ramanujar, Dhanvantri, Garudan in stones, besides 5 ft Sathyanarayana ,Yoga Anjaneyar, Mahalakshmi, Rama Sita and Utsavamoorthis in Panchalogam.
As part of the event, an idol of the Lord was taken around in the village and it was received with aarthis at each house in the village.
The Samprokshanam was performed by Prasad and Varadharja Iyengar under the guidance of Ganapathy Sarma. Chennai Jnakalyan president K. Nagarajan, Sivakumar assistant commissioner (Chennai) HR & CE, Subramanian, Chitra Devi, executive officer of the temple and Vilangadupakkam panchayat president Bharathi Saravanan and others participated.
