Sewage floods Triplicane roads
Residents in Mohd Abdulla Second Street in Triplicane are a frustrated lot as most part of the street is always flooded with sewage and the authorities are unable to deliver them any permanent solution despite dozens of petitions.
“We feel desperate, helpless. Whenever the newspaper says there is an outbreak of some viral fever or cholera, we panic”, said a woman resident.
“I am here for the last six years, running this teashop. I have always found the street flooded with sewage.
When we complain, the sewage board truck comes to clean up but the problem returns the next day.
And today being Sunday, their office is closed and no truck will come”, said Sebastian Joy, 52, who runs a teashop. “It’s worse during the rains. The sewage runs knee-deep”.
