Solar parks to quench TN power thirst
The state government announced Thursday solar parks to be set up in phases in the next five years.
“Tidco will set up a host of solar parks in the state in phases to generate 1,000 MW of clean energy,” industries minister P. Thangamani said in the Assembly.
In the first phase, Tidco plans to set up a 100-MW solar park on 500 acres in the southern districts. This would entail an investment of Rs 1,000 crore.
The proposal is part of chief minister J. Jayalalithaa’s Vision 2023 document in which she had expressed to generate 5,000 MW of solar energy in the next 11 years.
