State continues to sweat it out

Rising mercury levels coupled with power outage made Chennaiites sweat and fume on Saturday.

While heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of coastal Tamil Nadu and coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chennai and its suburbs witnessed dry weather conditions.

According to regional meteorological centre here, Vellore, Chennai and Hyderabad will be hot for the next few days recording maximum temperature close to 42 degree Celsius.

Vellore district, which usually records the maximum temperature during summer, recorded 42 degrees on Saturday.

Thunderclouds may develop towards evening or night. Maximum temperature will be around 40 degree Celsius, the weather office in its forecast for Chennai and neighbourhoods said.

Resident of Avadi and Poonamalee also complained heat waves and the interior roads were deserted by noon in these areas.

Public thronged Marina beach during night hours while the corporation swimming pool in Marina and Mylady’s parks witnessed good crowd.

Residents in Ambattur, Korattur, Villivakkam were happy that the power outage in their locality has reduced from two hours to one hour since Friday.
