TASMAC decides to increase cost of beer
Beer guzzlers will now have to cough up a little more to purchase their âpricedâ goodies as the state-owned Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac) Ltd has decided to increase the retail price of beer.
Apart from deciding to enhance the retail price by Rs 5 to Rs 10 for various varieties of beer, Tasmac has decided to phase out three of the seven varieties it sells . Numerous varieties âcause confusionâ and leads to jacking up the prices.
According to sources, the decision to increase the price was made as the salesmen at the retail outlets found it difficult to give out small change to customers.
Further, since the alcohol content in the beer varied from four to eight percent, the price is being revised to as per the alcohol content.
Hence, the MRP for beer has been fixed at Rs 70, Rs 80, Rs 90 and Rs 100 with effect from June 14. The corporation had issued a circular to all its retail outlets across the state directing them to enforce the revised prices.
In case of violation in implementing the MRP or if the customers had any genuine complaints, they could express their grievances on phone numbers: (044) 28542303, 28521970 and 28524608.
