Techie pops pills at hotel, ends life

A 26-year-old woman software professional committed suicide in a star hotel on GST Road in St Thomas Mount on Thursday by over dosing on sleeping pills.

Ramalakshmi, who was employed with Wipro Technologies, was a divorcee and was living with her mother Krishnaveni in Pazhavanthagal.

Ramalakshmi had left a suicide note saying that nobody was responsible for her death. She also left a note for her mother, apologising for her action, the police said.

After Ramalakshmi had disappeared from the house on Wednesday her mother registered a police complaint.

“Apparently, she left the house on Wednesday and reached the star hotel where she took a room.

On Thursday afternoon she had called the reception saying that she was vacating the room in another 15 minutes. The room boy went up after 10 minutes and knocked at the door but there was no response.

The hotel management alerted the police and broke open the door, only to find her dead, the police added.
