Techie wanted for ration card racket
When a computer professional and a double postgraduate put their heads together you expect them to come up with a thriving business. Unfortunately, this duo has tried to thrive in the business of fake ration cards.
The game was up for 35-year-old Chandrasekahran, of Natham, a double postgraduate with a good knowledge of computer applications, when he sold a fake ration card to a man for Rs 3,000.
The customer, Ezhumalai, took the card to the local ration shop, where the salesmen alerted the taluk supply officer.
While Chandrashekar has been arrested, the police is now on the lookout for his accomplice, Manoharan, a computer engineer who runs a savouries stall in Krishnagiri and makes the fake ration cards.
Chandrasekhar sent him the details of his clients from Chengalpet through a government bus driver and Manoharan, using his skills on the computer made the fake cards and sent them to him, the police said.
So far five persons including Chandrasekhar and Ezhumalai have been arrested for the racket, by the police who also seized a bundle of fake ration cards from them. Manoharan has, however, managed to evade the police so far.
