Toll-free gas leak number of little use

Consumers who dial the toll free number for Indane LPG gas leakage complaint cell end up hearing either a busy tone or that the number does not exist.
While the landline number 044-22263898 remains out of service, the mobile number 9941008200 is always switched off.
Consumers also lament that the website to register complaints online also does not work properly and they do not receive any response from the cell.
“There was a gas leak in my house and everyone panicked. But when we called the agency to fix it, we could not get through to any of the numbers listed in the card.
The calls never get processed when we call the toll free numbers too. A gas leak is no joke but the response is poor,” said Lakshimanan, a customer from MGR Nagar.
Off late, the online complaint registration system has reportedly been experiencing technical glitches as well, say consumers.
“There is no prompt reply and we have to end up going directly to the nearest agency to resolve the issue,” said Thirugnanam, another customer.
Commenting on this, consumer association of India, trustee, R. Desikan, said, “Agencies should have a more effective system in place.
If consumers are unhappy with their service, they can always call the consumer affairs complaint line 28592828 and they problem will be fixed.”
When contacted, an official from Indane said they would look into the complaints and resolve the issue at the earliest.
