ToucHB all set to hit market
Mumbai based tech entrepreneurs Dr Abhishek Sen and team is gearing up to bring their innovative anemia detector, ToucHB to the market. Nearly 10 lakh women and infants die due to anemia and its related problems around the world; the product ToucHB scores because of its portability, cheap and require no blood sample to test.
“A pregnant woman should check for anemia at least once a month. Not only it costs about `50 for the test, but also no sufficient funds and support staff in rural India to screen every pregnant woman and infants. ToucHB costs around Rs6,000 to Rs13,000, can be easily carried to every nook and corner,” says Dr Sen.
The product depends on optical technology and accurately displays haemoglobin levels on digital screens. Aren’t there similar technologies available in India? “No. Even though some US and Israeli companies make them, they are not within the reach of India,” says Dr Sen. The product will hit the market this year, he adds.
