Unique website for Tamil learners
It was Mr Srinivas Parthasarathy’s five-year-old dream to start a centre that would teach the Tamil language to students who didn’t know how to read and write the language. His dream came true last month with Tamilmozhi Koodam.
“We wanted to do something for our mother tongue Tamil and started working on developing Tamil websites from 2005.
Our dream was to start an exclusive centre that would teach Tamil language, literature and religious songs to students and adults.
Our dream came true with Tamilmozhi Koodam, which was started last month,” said Mr Srinivas who, along with his team, is into web development for more than a decade now.
The centre teaches students to speak, read, and write the language.
“We conducted a survey and found that though many are born and brought up here they can hardly read and write Tamil.
We’ve got excellent teachers who specialise in respective fields like poetry, essay writing, Tamil music etc. Our centre is at Mandaveli and we will soon start classes at a school in R.A Puram,” he said.
Around 15 people have enrolled for the language classes and 13 of them are school and college students.
“Underprivileged students can learn for free. Many parents have also enquired about the centre and are showing interest in admitting their kids so that they can learn their mother tongue better,” he said. Interested can call Tamilmozhi Koodam at 044 42109486.
