Water work to divert traffic
Vehicular movement, including MTC services, would be diverted at the junction of Manali Road and Patel Nagar Main Road on the western side and Tiruvottiyur High Road on the east with Chennai Metro Water planning to lay the sewer main below the railway track for the Thiruvottriyur sewerage scheme.
Sewer pumping mains of 500mm and 600mm diametre would be laid below the railway track near the KCP Factory at Basin Road on April 29, said an official release. The pipe laying would be done after erecting RCC box culverts below the track for 30m through which the water and sewer main will be laid, the release said.
The vehicle diversion has been effected as the work would require a fleet of heavy vehicles and cranes and trailers would be deployed and stationed along Basin Road up to the junction of Manali Road in Thiruvottriyur.
Metro Water has also cautioned that water supply through tanker lorries in Thiruvottriyur would be affected, as the lorries would be diverted through Manali Oil Refinery Road.
The work would be done from 6 am to 9 pm on Sunday. Metro Water has advised people to contact the deputy engineer in the area on 81499 30251.
