Will not fail voters, asserts Jayalalithaa
Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa thanked the voters of Sankarankoil Assembly constituency for the ‘massive’ victory of AIADMK candidate S. Muthuselvi, and said she would not fail the hopes of the people. “The people will benefit from all facilities that would ensure a trouble-free life for them,” she said.
In a statement after the announcement of results on Wednesday, she said the people had kept in mind the AIADMK government’s schemes and the misrule of the DMK between 2006-2011. Pointing out that all the other parties had lost their deposit, Ms Jayalalithaa said the victory was a ‘certificate’ for the AIADMK’s good governance.
“She (Muthuselvi) was set to win. The results are on expected lines. It was only a question about the victory margin,” Ms Jayalalithaa told reporters after participating in the wedding of seven couples at Vanagaram, near Chennai.“We don’t think anything will proceed without consultations with the CMs,” she opined when asked about the NCTC issue.
On Koodankulam, Ms Jayalalithaa said she has already given a detailed statement about the safety of the plant and the package earmarked for development works. Questioned about Mullaiperiyar, she said it was an ongoing process in the Supreme Court.
