Zion school to reopen on Monday
Two brothers of Dr N. Vijayan, correspondent of Zion matriculation higher secondary school, were arrested on Sunday in connection with the death of 6-year-old girl student Shruthi after she fell through the hole on the floor of a moving school bus on Wednesday.
With the arrest of N. Paulraj, 58, and N.R. Ravi, 52, the number of arrested has risen to seven, including the motor vehicle inspector, correspondent of the school, owner of the bus, driver and helper present in the bus when the mishap occurred.
The police arrested Paulraj and Ravi from their residence in Selaiyur and later remanded them in judicial custody.
A group of parents of students studying in the school on Sunday staged a protest seeking to reopen the school, as the management announced indefinite closure of all the three schools it runs.
The management representatives later claimed that they were forced to close the school following advice from the police on security issue.
After the protest by the parents, the Selaiyur police said they were ready to give the required security to the school.
By evening, the school management started sending SMS to parents of the students that the school will re-open on Monday.
