Vishwanathan Anand: Chennai super king

MASK.jpg.crop_display.jpg

Xerox, the company which produces copying machines, metamorphosed into a generic name to denote the process of copying from paper to paper. Likewise, Viswanathan Anand and chess have become synonymous in India ever since he started his productive journey in the mind game three decades ago.

He has achieved everything there is in world chess. Anand continues to raise the bar. His excellence could be a nightmare for journalists, as they are saddled with the challenge of avoiding clichés to describe his resplendent performances.

To veer away from the beaten path and commemorate Anand’s fifth world title, Deccan Chronicle chose to focus on the number Five. We threw a number of fives to Anand and he answered all of them with his characteristic passion and sincerity. Read on to find the unexplored side of the Tiger from Madras.
