1,659 Sena men held before Khan premiere
Mumbai, Feb. 10: The police has gone all out to ensure that the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer My Name Is Khan is screened without incident in Mumbai.
JCP (law and order) Himanshu Roy said Wednesday evening that 1,659 Shiv Sena activists have been arrested. "While 1,600 have been taken into preventive custody, the remaining were arrested for various offences, like rioting and vandalism. While some of them are still in custody, others have either been released on bail or are in judicial custody for rioting, damaging property, unlawful assembly and trespassing," Mr Roy said.
All the 63 theatres that are to screen the film have been provided with heavy protection. There will be uniformed policemen as well as plainclothes policemen inside the theatres. The regional quick response teams have been put on alert and additional help requested from paramilitary forces, the police said.
