Accused in Vedic case is shot dead
Kolkata, Feb. 6: Abdul Hype, better known as Kelo Bhola, one of the prime accused in the high-profile Vedic Village case, was shot dead near his house at Haora in North 24 Parganas on Saturday evening.
Though the Kolkata police remained tightlipped over the possible motive of the assailants, questions have been raised if Kelo Bhola, who had earlier been arrested and currently was out on bail, had been deliberately silenced for his involvement in the Vaedic Village case.A group of three miscreants came riding a motorcycle in the Dhanpota bazaar area where Kelo was sitting near a tea stall. Before anyone could suspect anything, the miscreants started hurling bombs and finally pumped bullets in Kelo’s body, who collapsed on the spot. The miscreants sped away without being intercepted. The district police has launched a massive search for the offending trio.“It is too early to comment on the motive. Since Kelo Bhola has a criminal precedence of 10 years, the murder can the outcome of some local gang rivalry. However, we are keeping all options open. I am yet to piece out how this murder is going to affect the Vedic Village case,” SP North 24 Parganas Rahul Srivastava said.Kelo Bhola, one of the trusted lieutenants of land shark Gaffar Mollah, started as a petty criminal before he started assisting Gaffar in process of grabbing land — especially in Oriapara and Bajetarak Mouza in Rajarhat for the Vedic Village project.Kelo Bhola was arrested and granted bail after violence and arson in Vedic Village resort near New Kolkata township, the police said.
