Airports on high alert after hijack tip-off
New Delhi, Jan. 28: Airports across the country were put on high alert on Thursday evening following intelligence inputs that attempts could be made by terrorists to hijack an aircraft within a short span of time.
Airports, including New Delhi’s IGI Airport, were put on alert. Sources said the alert was issued at about 7 pm and that it said an attempt could be made to hijack an aircraft within half an hour. Thorough ladder-point security checks and pre-embarkation checks were continued by security agencies following the alert.
