Bizarre break-ups
Whether it happened when you were in school, or just when you were passing out of college, we all have experienced heartbreaks, haven’t we? What follows a break-up is the blame game, and endless gossip sessions of “who did what” with your closest pals. Amidst a zillion reasons which lead to break-ups, there are some which seem totally illogical. Be it just for the heck of calling it quits, or dishing out an explanation for their decision, teens often furnish the “weirdest” reasons for breaking up.
Lohit, a Class 12 student, broke up with his girlfriend as he was tired of hearing about the new house her father had bought. “She is a sweet girl, but I’m tired and I don’t want to know how much her dad spent on that house. I got really irritated, and when I told her I have heard a thousand times about the house already, she got angry and said I don’t value her. That put me off completely and I broke up with her,” he shares. While we’ve often heard about “bad dressing sense” being a turn off for many in a relationship, there are some who can’t tolerate “ugly tattoos”. “I started calling her the ‘bad tattoo girl’ in school after our break-up. One, she had this incredibly rude habit of interrupting people in the middle of a conversation. I didn’t notice this at first, but by our third date, I figured out that she was definitely not my kind. And it got worse when she showed me the worst tattoo ever on her neck. I needed a reason to break up, and the tattoo gave me a solid one,” recalls Nitish, a 19-year-old. At a time when chivalry is definitely the “in” thing for GenY, there is no reason why a guy shouldn’t pay the bill on your dates, isn’t it? When Monica, a B.Com (Hons) student, asked her boyfriend to go dutch at an expensive restaurant, he agreed. But it put her off. “I said it just like that, and he took it seriously. He should have footed the complete bill, after all it was just our second date,” she laughs.
