Cops clash with prison officials
Kolkata, Feb. 15: The officials of the Kolkata police clashed with the employees of a correctional home near the Police Training School (PTS) late on Sunday night.
The incident occurred when a prison vehicle collided with a matador.
According to Lal Bazar sources, as the matador hit the prison vehicle, its looking glass on the left was broken. Following the incident, some of the jail employees inside the vehicle started beating the driver and helper of the matador, who in turn took refuge inside the PTS.
Trouble broke out further when the jail employees were stopped from entering the PTS premises. A special action force (SAF) jawan reportedly assaulted the jail employees when they protested. The fight soon intensified as more officials of the Kolkata police barracks inside the PTS joined in.
In the meantime, some unknown miscreants ransacked the prison vehicle and beat up some of the employees of the prison, who were inside the vehicle. The jail authorities, however, alleged that the police had beaten some of them who had to be hospitalised.
Meanwhile, joint CP (headquarters) Jawed Shamim said, "DC first battalion Humayun Kabir is probing the matter."
