Court rejects bail plea of fake doctor
NEW DELHI, Jan. 31: A medical representative, who allegedly posed himself as a doctor of the premiere medical institute AIIMS and cheated a critically ill patient to the tune of Rs 1 lakh, has been denied anticipatory bail by a Delhi court, which held that such persons are “real danger” to the society.
While dismissing the bail application of Supriyo Mukherjee, additional sessions judge (ASJ) Pratibha Rani said, “On the basis of these prescriptions, it can be seen that though not qualified as a doctor, the accused was allegedly treating Indernil (patient) for serious kidney problem.” Supriyo, a resident of Hari Nagar area, has been charged under various sections of the IPC, including cheating, causing grievous hurt and impersonation.The court said, “Persons like him (Mukherjee), who allegedly play with the life of innocent persons who come on the faith that they are in expert hands to get better treatment for their ailment, are real dangers to the society.” The court allowed plea of Rohit K. Yadav and Akhilesh Bansal, advocates for Indernil who was forced to undergo the kidney transplant, that the accused played with the life of the innocent patient.
