MBA student dies; DMRC laxity alleged

NEW DELHI , Feb. 6: A management student was killed in Noida when his bike hit a steel framework erected allegedly without proper safeguards by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

The brother of the deceased has lodged a complaint with the Noida police alleging negligence on the part of DMRC. The deceased Gaurav Vij, was killed when his motorcycle hit a steel frame erected on the road. “Ajay, the brother of the victim, has said in his complaint that the area was devoid of proper lighting and did not have any signage warning about the construction going on,” a police officer stated. Gaurav, an MBA student, was studying at a Greater Noida college.“The FIR states that DMRC had erected steel framework on the road which was not barricaded and had no proper lighting,” said police sources.Meanwhile, when contacted, a DMRC spokesperson denied any negligence on the part of the corporation and claimed the area was properly barricaded.
