Metro melee: Case lodged
Nov. 9: The Delhi police on Monday registered a case of negligence against "unknown people" at the Rajouri Garden police station in the Delhi Metro breakdown incident where some passengers opened the emergency doors of the train and descended on the tracks to reach the station.
"A case under Section 337 (negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against unknown people. The incident could have led to a major tragedy and we will examine the role of all the stakeholders involved in the incident," Delhi police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said.
Hundreds of passengers had a harrowing time on Sunday when a metro train on Dwarka-Yamuna Bank line got struck for nearly two hours between the elevated R.K. Ashram Marg and the underground Rajiv Chowk Metro stations following power failure.
The repeated announcements by the train operator to remain calm were ignored and the passengers forced open both the emergency doors.
