MNIK hit, Sena flop
MUMBAI, Feb. 12: The state government had something to cheer about when actor Shah Rukh Khan’s film My Name Is Khan opened to full houses across the city when it was released on Friday despite sporadic protests by the Shiv Sena.
The morning screening of the film, however, could not be held because the theatre owners had deferred a decision until a meeting that was to be held on Friday morning. After the meeting, and following assurances from the government, the film was released across the city with the exception of a few theatres.
The film was released in the midst of tight security. Sena workers did try to create trouble, but were dealt with severely by the police.
