Narayanan condoles EFR deaths
Kolkata, Feb. 17: Reiterating the government’s commitment to "deal effectively" with the Maoist menace in the tribal belts, governor M.K. Narayanan said restoring peace in the region necessary for the socio-economic development of the masses. He expressed
confidence that the government forces with the help of the local population can defeat "the evil intentions of the Left wing extremists."
He also conveyed his "heart-felt condolences" to the bereaved families of the slain Eastern Frontier Rifles (EFR) troopers, said a statement issued by the office of his secretariat here.
Significantly, Mr Narayanan, who is known to be the foremost intelligence expert in independent India, has taken over his new assignment to deal with the Maoist menace firmly. Mr Narayanan is also a specialist on extreme Left wing politics. His appointment as the state governor was seen as a tough message to the Left wing extremists by the Centre.
