NTPC to scale up capacity
Chennai, Feb. 2: Power major National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) would scale up its capacity from the present 30,000 MW to 75,000 MW by 2017, NTPC human resour-ces director, Mr R.C. Shri-vastav, told reporters here.
He said the company is currently working on projects totalling 17,930 MW, valued at Rs 72,000 crore. Of this, 2,000 MW would be nuclear energy, 1,000 MW renewal energy, 9,000 MW hydel, while the rest would be of coal and thermal sources.
"We have got 315 MW of solar projects, including so-lar thermal and photovoltaic. We are currently working on an ultra solar project," he said.
The country’s largest po-wer producer NTPC’s follow-on public offer to raise about Rs 8,500 crore opens on Wednesday and will be closed on Friday.
The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM), in its meeting on February 1, has decided the floor price of the FPO at Rs 201 per equity share. The government is divesting five per cent stake in NTPC through this FPO.
After this, the government’s holding in the power utility will come down to 84.5 per cent. — PTI
