New Delhi, Feb. 3: Union home minister P. Chidambaram will be travelling to Pakistan to attend the Saarc Interior Ministers’ Conference in Islamabad, scheduled to be held from February 26 to 28.
In the first move since the breakdown of the dialogue between India and Pakistan following the 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai, Mr Chidambaram is likely to hold bilateral talks with his Pakistani counterpart, Mr Rehman Malik, and other leaders on the sidelines of the Saarc ministers’ conference.
The first day of the conference will witness a meeting of the intelligence chiefs of the Saarc countries where India will be represented by Intelligence Bureau director Rajiv Mathur. On the second day, a home secretary-level meeting would be held in which Union home secretary G.K. Pillai will participate. The third day of the conference will witness a meeting of all Saarc home/interior ministers to discuss intelligence-sharing, terrorism and the prevailing security situation.
