PM and Advani spar in LS
New Delhi, March 3: The Lok Sabha witnessed some sparring between PM Manmohan Singh and NDA working chairman L.K. Advani on Wednesday during the debate on the motion of thanks on the President’s address.
The PM repeatedly rebutted Mr Advani’s charges, among them the decision to talk to Pakistan owing to US pressure. Mr Advani had asked if the US President was behind the Indo-Pak talks and whether this marked a change from the earlier US policy of not intervening unless asked by both nations. The PM stood up to intervene: “What you are attributing to President Obama is certainly not true. In my discussions with President Obama, he has told me that there is no change in US policy towards India and Pakistan.”
