Saw SRK act for 1st time now: Kajol
FILM ACTRESS Kajol said she has seen her co-star Shah Rukh Khan act for the first time in their latest film My Name Is Khan, which will be released all over the world next week.
"I think in every film Shah Rukh has played Shah Rukh. I think this is the first time I didn’t see Shah Rukh in the character, I saw Rizwan Khan," she said at a pre-release press briefing on the film in London on Wednesday evening. Directed by Karan Johar, My Name is Khan is about an Indian Muslim with Asperger’s syndrome, whose life changes after the September 11 terror attacks in New York. Kajol plays a hairstylist, who is a single mother, in the film.
Shah Rukh said he prepared for his role by meeting people with the syndrome and also read Mark Haddon’s Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, which deals with a young boy with Asperger’s syndrome.
"I actually haven’t won an award for 12 years. I just thought I must do all this to win an award. I think moment you make a film about a disorder, you definitely win an award," Karan Johar joked when asked why he had changed direction and made a film without the usual masala and glamour.
"I was a bit bored with what I was doing. I just felt the need to challenge myself," he added.
