Top cop is shifted out over Kasab
Bhopal, Feb. 3: Transfer orders on Wednesday were served on Madhya Pradesh IG (Special Armed Forces) Rajendra Kumar for his misplaced and widely misunderstood utterances pertaining to the shooting proficiency of the 26/11 Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab, currently under trial.
The IG made the remarks while inaugurating a state shooting competition on Tuesday at which cadets from all over the country were present. Mr Kumar, a 1985 cadre IPS officer, was shunted to police headquarters with immediate effect under orders from the top political leadership.
Police sources said the decision was probably forced on CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan by his superiors in Delhi given the disproportionate coverage his otherwise morale-boosting speech had evinced.
