Vital posts vacant in Barasat varsity

Kolkata, Feb. 7: The state university is running without major administrative officials since 2009. Various posts, including that of deputy registrar, deputy controller of examination, assistant controller of examination and finance officer of the Barasat University are lying vacant. The state higher education department had advertised for the posts on May 21, 2009. However, the varsity is yet call the shortlisted candidates for the interview.

“Being a new university, we are currently busy scrutinising and re-evaluating the answerscripts of the undergraduate examinations. The interview processes for these major posts will start very shortly by the end of this month or latest by early next month,” varsity registrar Uttam Kumar Datta said.However, one of the officials of the higher education department, said: “The varsity is plagued with various problems. A year since its official functioning, the controller of examination and inspector of colleges were recruited.”

The main objective of the programme is to aware the farmers about the deadly weed which even though damages crop can be utilised as herbal fertiliser, if processed as compost.In January, the BCKV had formally offered its supports to the state government about creating awareness among the farmers about parthenium, which similar to other weeds, damage crops production around 30 per cent every year. Head of the department of agronomy at BCKV, Dr Ratikanta Basu said, “It is a pleasure that the state government has accepted the proposal.”
