Yuvi latest casualty, doubtful for SA series
Dhaka, Jan. 26: With Rahul Dravid sitting out the final three days of this second Test against Bangladesh with a fractured cheekbone and Venkatasai Laxman already having returned home, India received another batting blow with the news that Yuvraj Singh would also take no further part in this game with a torn cartilage in his left wrist.
Administrative manager Arshad Ayub, who had on Tuesday said Yuvraj was expected to play, has now confirmed that the report of the medical examination carried out on Tuesday night at the Apollo Hospital in Dhaka had revealed a ligament tear. The injury put Yuvraj’s inclusion in the squad for next month’s home series against South Africa in doubt as the selectors are to meet on Thursday to name the side. “The report of Yuvraj’s injury shows he has a ligament tear on his left wrist. He will not take further part in this Test,” Ayub said.
Ayub added that Yuvraj and Dravid would be staying on with the team.
Of the original 16-member squad, four are on the wounded list with Shanthakumaran Sreesanth and Laxman already back home.
