Lifestyles of the rich and famous

Having money is all about unique experiences and top-end luxury — so it could be a high-end Christmas meal, or driving a different supercar every week for a year, or just inundating your partner in rose petals. If you have money, it’s all yours and for a steep price.
There is definitely a demand for these unique experiences as a Chinese man this week snapped up the chance to visit every World Heritage site in a two-year trip for a cool £1 million. Luxury website, VeryFirstTo.com, which had offered the journey to the 962 World Heritage sites, including Taj Mahal in India; Petra in Jordan; Cambodia’s Angkor Vat temples; the Great Pyramids in Egypt and Peru’s Machu Picchu, in partnership with luxury travel agent Hurlingham Travel, said in a tweet that the £990,000 package for a couple to travel on the “ultimate journey” had been snapped up, but did not name the Chinese man who had paid for the package.
The package does not include ÂŁ50 membership for the website and a donation of ÂŁ5,000 will be made to Unesco during the trip.
If you are worried about missing out, then the offer of driving a different supercar for each week of the year is still available for a paltry quarter of million pounds.
The cars on the list include Aston Martin; Bugatti; Bentley; Ferrari; Lamborghini; Lotus; Maserati; McClaren; Porsche and TVR.
However, the driver needs to have a minimum five years driving experience and needs to be aged between 28 and 70 years with a full UK or European driving licence to be able to buy the “car lover’s dream year”.
Last year in December, British chef Ben Spalding offered his services to cook the ultimate Christmas meal for a group of four for £125,000 via the website. On the menu were drinks from a £37,000 bottle of Piper Heidsieck 1907 Champagne that predates World War One and Almas caviar, the world’s most expensive fish eggs at £5,000. The world’s most expensive melon from China, the Yubari King which costs £2,500, made up the second course, accompanied by whole white Alba truffle costing £3,500 and saffron stock at £500.
Other offers have included a portrait made completely of flowers (ÂŁ17,595) and 267 carat black diamond nail polish (ÂŁ160,000).
For the romantic-minded, the website offers a package to fill up front and back lawns with a million rose petals, costing ÂŁ70,000 and another that would help craft a 30-second marriage proposal advertisement on national television for ÂŁ135,000. And for its gold members, the website also has gravity-defying space travel, going as high as 103 km, for $105,000.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
