‘Ranbir is extremely

Sensuous, svelte and sensational — Deepika Padukone is all this and more. In the relatively short span of time that she’s been in the industry, Deepika has managed to become the leading choice of top-notch filmmakers and actors in Bollywood.

From Saif Ali Khan to Ranbir Kapoor to Shah Rukh Khan and even Ranveer Singh — all of Dippy’s co-stars swear by her charm. “I’ve been extremely lucky to have them all as co-stars,” says Dippy, flashing her dimpled smile.
Of late, the actress has been busy fending off reports of her alleged liaison with Ram Leela co-star Ranveer. Dippy admits that they share a great equation, “Yes, there is a certain chemistry and bonding that Ranveer and I share. When we started shooting Ram Leela, we knew that it was the requirement of the film. That stays intact.”
A while ago Ranveer had reportedly said that they aren’t dating, but that they do go out. “Of course we hang out together!” says Dippy. “But our link-up is too far fetched. Right now, we’re working together, and so we’re written about. But I’m sure the focus will shift after the release of Ram Leela.”
Another thing that has caused much talk is Dippy’s redefined relationship with former beau Ranbir Kapoor.
“Nothing much has changed between Ranbir and me. We respect each other and that is the base of our equation. He is extremely protective of me. I’m glad that we could take our friendship to the next and a more mature level. We’re working together in Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, as you might know, and there is no discomfort or awkwardness between us any more,” she says.
Deepika also admits that living alone in Mumbai has made her a lot more responsible and mature. In an industry where equations change every Friday, Deepika has managed to maintain a cordial rapport with most colleagues.
“When I started off, I didn’t have any idea as to how to go about in the industry. I’m thankful that I had Shah Rukh’s guidance. Now that we’re working together again in Chennai Express, he tells me that there is a vast difference in the way I am now and the way I was during the Om Shanti Om days. I guess I’m more at ease now,” she says with a laugh.
Dippy admits she wasn’t in the best shape possible while working on Race 2, as health issues and a hectic schedule kept her from working out. She is now back to training seriously for Ram Leela and Chennai Express.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
