Saddam’s valuables up for sale
This dictator had a passion for for expensive watches, pens and sunglasses. Now, Haitham Wihaib, Saddam Hussein’s former right-hand man, is smartly selling all the gifts given to him by his tyrannical boss in a bid to raise £350,000 for Iraqi schools.
The list includes a custom-made gold Rolex, with several diamonds embedded into the watch face and bracelet. Made of gold, diamonds and sapphire, this was Saddam’s favourite watch and he wore it for all special occasions, including banquets hosted by kings or heads of states during Arab summit conferences. The bidding for the gold Rolex watch starts at US $150,000.
Other valuables up for auction include a Cartier pen ($5,000), Holy Koran ($8,000), smoking pipe ($4,000), specially-made shisha ($25,500), a walking cane ($3,500), and his Christian Dior ties ($4,000 each).
