‘No need for me to play T20 for India’
Despite India’s underwhelming performance in the World T20 Championships in West Indies recently, Sachin Tendulkar feels that the current bunch are more than adequate to make amends, and that there was no need for him to turn out for India in the shortest version of the game.
“The team have played well before and they will make a comeback. So there is no need for me to play T20,” said Tendulkar at a press event in Mumbai on Thursday.
“I will stick by the decision that I had taken way back in 2007 of not playing in competitive T20 cricket.”
Tendulkar raised Rs. 1.25 crores in just two weeks for cancer-afflicted children after a message from him on his Twitter page evoked an overwhelming response.
The Master also defended Yuvraj, saying the latter’s poor run would not last. “He’s just too good a player to be silent. He’ll be back with a bang soon enough,” he said.
