Advantage Kiwis, says McIntosh
Hyderabad, Nov. 15: With the Kiwis putting up a commendable show in their second innings on Monday, opener Tim McIntosh felt the final day would be as exciting as the first four. “We will continue to play positive. We had a good session today and if we bat the same way on Tuesday, we will be in a position to set India a total,” McIntosh said at the end of the day’s play.
“We went with a mindset of staying for a longer duration of time. I and McCullum backed each other up and went on to play our natural games,” McIntosh added.
Speaking about his partnership with McCullum, McIntosh said: “We have been complementing each other quite well. I have really enjoyed batting with him. Before the series started, we used to train with each other and that helped.”
With the left-hander being dismissed by Zaheer Khan on more occasions than one, McIntosh said the left-armer was a potent force.
“Zaheer is a good challenge. I got out to him in Ahmedabad and have since then tried to nullify his bowling at the nets. He is a kind of bowler who possesses a lot of variety up his sleeve. I have enjoyed facing him in the series,” McIntosh said. Asked if India missed Zaheer, who was out of action for the better part of the day, the Kiwi said, “I am not sure what the problem was but that’s the nature of the game.”
