Air India ease past ONGC in final
Incisive bowling by Ajit Chandila (3/38) and IPL final hero Manvinder Bisla’s quickfire 60 helped Air India beat ONGC by five wickets in the final of the 37th Lala Raghubir Singh hot weather cricket tournament at the Modern School grounds in New Delhi on Tuesday. Put in to bat, ONGC posted 229 in 39.6 overs.
Man of the match Radhey Shyam Gupta fired with a 102-ball 93 while Mayank Tehlan contributed 56.
Air India bowlers Chandila and Rajat Bhatia (3/51), who claimed a hat-trick, picked up wickets at frequent intervals to halt ONGC’s run-rate.
In the chase, Air India overhauled the 230-run target in 35 overs. Bisla’s 36 ball-knock was laced with four boundaries and four over the rope, while senior batsman Mohammad Kaif contributed a half-century to the team’s cause.
His innings included two fours and as many sixes.
For ONGC, Parvesh Chikara was the best of the bowlers with 3/42.
