All-round Theron stars for Proteas A
Pretoria, Aug. 10: South Africa A defeated Australia A by 19 runs in the tri-series at the LC de Villiers Oval, Pretoria, on Saturday. Aaron Finch’s hundred went in vain for the Australia A team.
Opting to bat first, South Africa A were bowled out for 252 runs in 47.4 overs. Dean Elgar (52) and Rusty Theron (53) helped the proteas to reach a competitive total.
Theron was at it again during the Australia A’s chase as he scalped four wicket for 51 runs in eight overs to help them bowl out Australia for 233 runs in 42.2 overs.
Skipper Finch produced a magnificent century (119) and was well-supported by Shaun Marsh (33) and Nic Maddinson (41) in the middle-overs.
All-rounder Theron got support from Hardus Viljeon, who got 3/63 runs in 9.2 overs.
