Andhra have Maharashtra on the mat

Visakhapatnam, Nov. 17: Andhra bowlers literally had a field day with the bowlers making hay thanks to the overcast conditions and assistance from a moist pitch on the first day of their Ranji Trophy Plate Group ‘B’ match here on Wednesday.

Maharashtra took a calculated risk by electing to bat at the Dr YSR ACA-VDCA Stadium but ended the day on 66 for 4. Opener Harshad Khadiwale waged a lone battle to be not out on 39 along with captain Rohit Motwani, batting on 5.

The match began after a delayed start, at 2.45 pm. Pacer P. Vijaykumar had opener Ameya Srikhande caught by wicketkeeper Manoj Sai for just 1. Vijay was unplayable, conceding just two runs in the 10 overs he bowled. His astonishing figures read 10-8-2-1.

Y. Gnaneshwar Rao took 2 wickets for 20 runs.
